Position Summary
The Design Architect / Senior Project Designer is responsible for developing creative design concepts and solutions for custom residential projects. This position guides projects through initial concept design, schematic design and design development.
Essential Functions
Coordinates project design and develops design concepts.
Prepares presentation materials and participates in design presentations to clients throughout the course of the projects.
Collaborates with the project team and others to develop the design and maintain design integrity during Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents and Construction Administration phases.
Develops designs that respond to a client’s vision, budget and schedule requirements.
Improves and maintains the level of design quality for the firm.
Maintains a functional knowledge of building codes.
Assists with training and mentorship of Project Designers, Project Leaders and Architectural Interns.
Skills and Abilities Required
Demonstrate a portfolio with a strong design aptitude.
Ability to conceptualize, develop and implement design solutions.
Proficiency in Revit and AutoCad preferred.
Experience with Photoshop, InDesign, and/or Sketch Up preferred, but not required.
General knowledge of residential construction building codes.
Ability to work with limited supervision; timely completion of projects; makes time for unplanned assignments; adapts to changing priorities.
Must work well in a team-oriented studio environment.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must have the ability to interact positively with others, solve problems and communicate solutions to others constructively.
Education and Experience Required
Minimum Bachelor of Arts/Science Degree in Architecture from an accredited college or university.
At least ten years of experience in high-end residential projects preferred.
State Architect Licensure not required, but would be helpful.
