Longfield Residence

An oak-covered equestrian lot provides the perfect backdrop for an estate that takes inspiration from the Spanish, French, and Creole history of the areas surrounding the Natchez River. The residence is a lower-scale, one-story collection of simple roof forms with painted brick and shingle siding. Clean, contemporary interiors and large glass walls bring the outdoors in, providing a quiet home for a client who breeds champion greyhounds.

Later sold to new owners who loved the existing home but no longer needed a professional kennel or dog runs, Court Atkins Group repurposed the kennel and re-envisioned a more private suite of spaces for work and relaxation that were specifically designed for the new owners. The whelping room became a remote office, and the interior kennels and grooming areas became a multipurpose space for reading, tv, exercise, and fireside chats. New fenestration solutions create an exterior-oriented focus, and the existing dog runs were removed and replaced with a more intimate fireside terrace with stunning views of the live oaks beyond.
