Southern Barrel Brewing Company

Southern Barrel Brewing Company features a tavern-style restaurant, outdoor beer garden and elaborate brewing facility. The project mission required blending design with functionality since the brewery operates around the clock.

A soft industrial aesthetic guided the design approach for this local Bluffton brewery. This space was created to highlight seasonal craft beer produced on-site in an authentic way. Reclaimed barn wood from the 1700s provides texture, character, and warmth alongside the stained concrete floors. A geometric black and white tile-front bar, custom industrial lighting, and a one-of-a-kind communal table are unique details that stand out against the backdrop of the multiple stainless steel brewing tanks. Comfortable bar stools and well-worn leather upholstery invite guests to settle in and relax, while American flag décor inspires pride of place.

  • Client Testimonial: It was a true pleasure to work with Court Atkins on the South Barrel Brewing Co. project. The entire team was attentive and really took the necessary time to think through the strategy and design to bring multiples uses together with a brewery, tap room and an outdoor garden. Their combination of architectural and design services was a perfect complement to execute such a fine design that accomplished not on the necessary space efficiencies, but they really captured the authenticity of the entire concept. Court Atkins is a first-class organization that not only brings quality with their work but truly exemplifies a very complete process for architecture and design. - Matt Green
