Waterfowl Residence

A sprawling shingle-style home with coastal influences, this waterfront estate calls to mind traditional seaside escapes of the northeast, deftly toeing the line between classic and informal. Stately two-story gables ascend along the main house's front and rear elevations, while the rear of the home digs into its east coast influences with a continuous sequence of glassed-in, screened, and open porches. Spanning two homesites, the primary gathering space is the extended great room, which includes the kitchen, living, and dining areas, flanked with floor-to-ceiling windows, water views, and terrace and porch access.

The architecture and interior design teams worked with the clients to incorporate their existing collection of legacy furniture and fine art, reimagining these pieces in the context of an elegant coastal retreat with an eye to craftsmanship and extensive millwork. At the client's behest, the interior design team rooted the design palette in shades of blue, grounding the coastal hues with a blend of neutral textured fabrics and simple, elegant finishes in keeping with the home’s traditional aesthetic.
