Deborah Van Plew

Principal, Interior Design Director

Purdue University – Boiler UP!!

Deborah is widely recognized in the industry for her stylish, understated residential and hospitality design. A graduate of Purdue University with a BS in interior design, she relocated to the Lowcountry in 1986 to begin her entrepreneurial career and has been dedicated exclusively to the interior design industry since 1993. Her work focuses on high-end residential, luxury hotel, and signature restaurant projects, and since 2014, she has brought her expertise to Court Atkins.

Discovering new sources and the latest design innovations allows Deborah to bring a fresh approach to each project. Her sharp eye for detail, scale, and balance ensures her interiors are refined and tasteful interpretations of current trends, while remaining a unique reflection of each client’s passions and lifestyle. Deeply inspired by global travel and a particular appreciation for exceptional luxury hotels—she draws on a wide range of cultural and experiential influences.

Beyond design, Deborah has a strong appreciation for culinary experiences, as well as an enduring enthusiasm for Formula 1, rodeo, and motorcycles. She is continually energized by all things design and has a particular fascination with street-style fashion, bringing that same sense of curiosity and edge into her work. Whether creating a modern Lowcountry residence or an engaging hospitality space, Deborah’s designs are original, effortlessly livable, and thoughtfully inspired.
